The Sbandieratori dei Rioni di Cori (Rioni Flag Throwers from Cori) celebrate their 60th Anniversary

In 2026, the Sbandieratori dei Rioni di Cori (Rioni Flag Throwers from Cori) will reach an extraordinary milestone: sixty years of history, passion and shared identity. Founded in 1966 thanks to the vision of Professor Giovanni Pistilli and the enthusiasm of a group of young people from Cori, the Association is today one of the most authentic cultural symbols of the city and one of the most important historical flag-throwing groups in Italy.

The 60th Anniversary will not simply be a commemorative celebration, but a true journey through time: a path combining memory, art, community and innovation, telling the story of a group that has preserved tradition while embracing the future.

Beyond Time, Forever

The motto chosen for the anniversary — “Beyond Time, Forever” — perfectly reflects the spirit of the celebrations. For sixty years, the Sbandieratori dei Rioni di Cori (Rioni Flag Throwers from Cori) have transformed the art of the flag into an internationally recognized artistic language, while always maintaining a deep connection with the roots of the city.

A particularly significant moment in the Association’s recent history was the official inclusion of women in 2022. This historic decision marked an important step toward a more inclusive and representative community, capable of interpreting the present without losing its identity.

A Logo That Tells Sixty Years of Evolution

To celebrate this important anniversary, an original and deeply symbolic visual identity was created. The logo of the 60th Anniversary was conceived as a dynamic visual system representing the three major phases in the history of the group: Roots, Momentum and Community.

• Roots (1966–1986) represents the birth of the Association and the original core of the community;
• Momentum (1986–2006) tells the story of artistic growth, innovation and the evolution of choreographies;
• Community (2006–2026) symbolizes inclusion, change and the expansion of participation.

These three elements merge into the final symbol of the vortex, recalling the movement of the flag in space and representing a living tradition in constant evolution.

“Scambi di Tempo”: The First Major Event of the Anniversary

Among the most anticipated events of the celebrations is “Scambi di Tempo”, the photographic and Renaissance costume exhibition officially opening the 60th Anniversary program.

The event will take place on May 9th, 2026 at 5:00 PM at the Chapel of San Tommaso in Piazza Signina, Cori, and will be dedicated to the first major chapter in the history of the group: 1966–1986, the Roots.

The exhibition will offer visitors an immersive journey through historical photographs, costumes, symbols and memories recounting the birth of the Association and the evolution of the flag-throwing tradition in Cori.

A Year of Culture, Performances and Memory

The anniversary program will continue throughout 2026 with exhibitions, performances, cultural meetings, screenings, educational activities and institutional events.

Celebrations will begin in February and March with workshops dedicated to schools in Cori and Giulianello, aimed at passing on the history of the Carosello Storico, flag techniques and the creative value of this tradition to younger generations. Throughout the year, three major photographic exhibitions will be organized, each dedicated to one historical period of the Association and accompanied by performances by members belonging to those generations.

Among the most anticipated events are:

• the presentation of the documentary film dedicated to the group’s history;
• a conference on the history of the flag;
• the official anniversary book;
• performances with other historical flag-throwing groups;
• tastings and cultural initiatives throughout the historic locations of Cori.
