What sets the Flag Throwers of the Districts of Cori apart?

  • The flag they handle is a true piece of craftsmanship. Each piece of wood is aged for 20 years and is hand-decorated by each artist. The drapes are made in the seamstress workshops of the town, using precious silk material and fine thread. The design of the flags is crafted by the group’s costume designers based on rare Renaissance books.
  • The acrobatic school represents the jewel in the crown of the group. Young athletes from the group’s internal acrobatic school combine artistic gymnastics with flag choreography, reinventing a tradition that saw the flag bearer as a skilled leader capable of being noticed by the entire army.

  • The melodies: they are based on Renaissance music and adapted to the contemporary context. The trumpets and drums adhere to late medieval and Renaissance musical standards, bringing them to absolutely modern and listenable rhythms.
  • The costumes are an essential part of the performance and are made with silk and virgin cotton. They are inspired by the treatises of Vittorio Alfieri from the 17th century – they were the dress code that the leaders had.

The Flag Throwers of the Districts of Cori have collaborated with embassies, folklore organizations, CIOFF, and other important cultural circuits to remind that art is above all a vehicle of peace and understanding among peoples.
